Dear Table Rockers—We hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving feast and have set about retiring the year of 2021 with grace and hope. We plan to resume TR Journal in January 2022 with monthly editions through August.
Then, as we did this year, we’ll take a break until the end of the year. We have every intention of hosting the Table Rock Writers Workshop and Solatido Songwriters at the end of August at Wildacres with all proper health precautions. As Diana Minish says, we can’t stay home for the rest of our lives!
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We are planning to add two new features to Table Rock Journal, and now is a good time for you to get started on your submissions. We plan to publish one, 500-word essay in every issue. It can be on any topic, but it needs to be lyrical, informative, and passionate writing. It can come from faculty or participants. This will be a competitive spot in the journal. You must convince our panel of readers with your very best writing. It can be an opinion, description, scene, or character study, but it must go somewhere and be compelling in and of itself. We will stop taking submissions once we have eight to use for the year!
The second addition to the journal will be a listing of books we are reading and recommend. For this feature, we will accept up to three sentences. The challenge is to help us understand why we should read the book. We will publish as many of these as we can fit. For inspiration you might check out the New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2021 which does a bang-up job of pithy summaries.
So get cracking, Rockers. We can’t wait to read what you write. You have until December 28 to submit your work for the January issue! We’ll introduce a new prompt in the next edition and share the responses from August’s prompt, too!
All love,
Georgann and Donna
